OF GREATER CLEVELAND

While the effervescent Mr. Wertheim takes a breather from his duties here at the news desk, I will be notifying you of some of the whirlwind ofevents and programs flying by at the Center (as well as those proceeding at a more leisurly pace...)

Annual Meeting: The Center's meetingof-meetings, its Annual Meeting, will be held on Tuesday, October 29th, at 7:30p.m., at the Center. Business, fun, and excitement will be united in this one event, to which all current members, soon-to-be current members, and prospective-current members are cordially invited. Please call the Center for more information....

Next Lambda Leadership Roundtable will be on Saturday, October 12th. Call the Center for time and location.

Board of Trustees: We're still seeking new nominations for our board to bring us to full enrollment of nineteen. Primary duties are fund raising and policy making. Especially encouraged are people of color and within the HIV spectrum. Please call us during business hours.

Survivors: "From Victim to Survivor" is the name of a conference to be held at the CWRU campus on Saturday, October 19th, from 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. For male survivors of sexual abuse, the conference is being jointly sponsored by the Center and the

Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. Registration will be sent out to those calling the Center.

Professionals and Others: A day-long conference for Education and Mental Health Professionals (and students), "The Invisible Minority; Addressing the Isolation of Gay/ Lesbian/Bisexual Youth", will be held on National Coming Out Day at the Cleveland Clinic; registration is nearly full, so, in order to reserve a place, please call the Center early. (In case you didn't know, National Coming Out Day is Saturday, October 11th; prepare yourself to make the most of this opportunity!)

Sex Talk: Men in Touch continues to be a

popular way to meet and talk over the issues of intimacy and sexuality in a safe, non-judgmental environment. October 29th marks the beginning of another of its six-week cycles of Tuesdays at 7 p.m. This first Tuesday is an open forum welcome to all those interested.

Free Leadership Training! The Center invites all those who have leadership aspirations to join another volunteer in facilitating some of our Friday Night Raps. This ongoing group has a history that is as old as the Center, and it continues to be vital and well-attended (20-30 people), sometimes serving as a "first link" to the Center, if not to the gay-lesbianbisexual community itself. If you are, or would like to become, a good, intelligent, compassionate leader and facilitator, please call the Center's volunteer coordinator. He's here 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturdays.

Next Hotline Training will be in November. Anyone interested in volunteering for the Lesbian and Gay Hotline which provides peer support, information and referrals, seven days a week in avery area of gay, lesbian, and AIDS concerns, please contact us before October 31st by calling 522-1999.
